So, I was listening to my Me First and the Gimme Gimmes playlist and on came their cover of my favorite Bond theme, Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better”. This made me want to listen to the original which in turn made me want to listen to more Bond songs. So, since I did that I figured I’d share my top 5 favorite Bond songs.
5. “For Your Eyes Only” – Sheena Easton
In reality, my number five is somewhere between this song and Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill”. But for the purpose of the list, Sheena wins.
4. “Live and Let Die” – Paul McCartney feat. Wings
It’s Sir Paul McCartney? What do you want me to say?
3. “Thunderball” – Tom Jones
I heard a lot of Tom Jones growing up and this song is no exception. Funny thing is Tom Jones used to remind me of my dad first, but now any Tom Jones song reminds me of John Mulaney’s “What’s New Pussycat” bit first.
2. “Goldfinger” – Shirley Bassey
This needs no explanation.
1. “Nobody Does It Better” – Carly Simon
I’m not sure if it’s “the sexiest song ever written” as Thom Yorke thinks, but it is pretty damn sexy.
